Day 01   Hanoi – Lao Cai  (-/-/D)  

  

  Arrive in Hanoi by morning flight. Pick up at the airport and make excursion to home of water puppet art, Quoc Oai, 30km from Hanoi. Visit Tay Phuong to sight the finest collection of wooden Buddha statues and Thay pagoda. Return Hanoi and have dinner at Hotel.

Transfer to Hanoi train station for night train to Lao Cai etd 22.00 hrs.

Overnight on Victoria carriage

Day 02   Lao Cai – Bac Ha - Sapa   (B/L/D)  

05:30Upon arrival in Lao Cai, transfer to Bac Ha. Simple breafast at local restaurant.  

Visit the colourful Bac Ha market full of montagnards from surrounding villages. They dress their most colourful costumes and head to the market to exchange goods or sell self-made souvenirs.

Lunch en route

p.m.  Walking tour at Ban Pho village then drive to Sapa. Enjoy the picturesque scenery along the way leading towards Sapa, a mountainous area of stunning natural beauty and diverse ethnic minorities.  Transfer to the hotel for check-in.

Day 03   Sapa – Ta Van – Cat Cat – Sapa   (B/L/D)

  Breakfast at hotel

  Fullday tour: A 8-km on the rim of a deep valley, followed by 30-minutes walk take you to so-called rattan bridge & the ethnic Ta Van village which is dwelled by Dzay people followed by a walking visit to Cat Cat village. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Day 04      Sapa        (B/L/D)

a.m.  Visit Ta Phin village.  Lying in a hillside meadow, it is home to Red Dzao and Hmong people. 

Lunch at local restaurant

p.m.  Transfer to Lao Cai and board on the night train to Hanoi etd 18.45 hrs.

Dinner and overnight (4-bed superior cabin)

Day 05  Hanoi  (B/-/D)

 

Early arrival in Hanoi eta 04.20 hrs.  You can keep the cabin until 07.00 hrs.

Transfer to Sunway Hotel or similar in Hanoi.  Breakfast at the hotel and half day use.

p.m.Cyclo tour (2 hours), visit to the Old quarter of Hanoi and Ngoc Son Temple.

  Dinner at Wild Rice restaurant

Evening:Drop off at Thang Long theatre for water puppet show, the unique Vietnamese traditional art. This art originates from rural festivals in Vietnam. The artists-men and women-stand waist-deep in the water to manipulate the puppets, making them move about, talk and laugh and even dance on the surface of the water. End of the show and transfer to hotel.

Thursday 

  Hanoi - Halong – Hai Phong  (B/L/D)

07.30Visit Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum (closed on Monday, Friday and the whole October and November) Residence and One Pillar Pagoda

09.30Drive to Halong, 180 km east of Hanoi.

On arrival take a wooden boat and have seafood lunch on board. Discover Halong Bay, listed as a World Heritage Area of outstanding natural beauty. “Dragon descending to the sea“ as it is known in Vietnamese, picturesque Halong Bay has more than 3,000 limestone islets rising from the clear emerald water, many of them containing beautiful grottoes. A 4-hour boat trip will visit to Thien Cung and Dau Go grottoes.

Drop off in Halong town. Proceed to Hai Phong transfer to hotel for check-in.

Friday

  Hai Phong – Hanoi – Danang – Hoi An    (B/L/D)

08.00Drive to Hai Phong, visit to the Garden theatre, Du Hang Pagoda and Kenh temple.

Lunch at Red Arecas restaurant (or Brother Cafe as alternative)

p.mVisit to Temple of Literature built in the 11th century as Vietnam’s first university, Quan Thanh Temple and Fine Art Museum.

16.00    Transfer to the Hanoi airport

17.00Depart Hanoi by VN 317 for Danang

18.15  Danang, Proceed to Hoi An. Transfer to hotel for check-in.

Day 08   Hoi An - Danang – Hoi An  (B/L/D)

08.00Proceed to Danang, transfer to visit Cham Museum; Marble Mountain and China Beach.

  Back to Hoi An. Lunch at White Lanterns restaurant

Discover the historic town which used to be a prosperous seaport city during the 16th to 18th centuries.  Its sizeable community of foreign merchants resulted in a unique architectural style with Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese influences. Visit the Phuc Kien hall, Japanese covered bridge, Tan Ky old house and the workshop of traditional occupation of Hoi An ancient town.

Day 09  Hoi An - Danang - Hue   (B/L/D)

07.30Drive to Hue across the Hai Van Pass (Pass of the Ocean Clouds), passing through many pretty red-tiled villages with fruit orchards, enjoying spectacular views of sky and sea.

Arrival on Hue, the royal city of Vietnam’s last ruling dynasty and transfer to the Saigon Morin Hotel or similar, then visit Tu Duc tomb, 

Lunch at Royal Park restaurant (or Tropical Garden restaurant as alternative) 

p.m. Boat trip on the Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda.

AmExcursion to Tay Ninh church, center of the Cao-Daism religion which combines Buddhism, Christianity, Taoism and Confucianism. Lunch en route.

PmVisit Cu Chi Tunnels, an amazing complex of the underground tunnels used during the Vietnam war.

Drive back to Ho Chi Minh City.
