TRAVEL & CULTURE ‘4-DAY NATURE AND HILL TRIBES’ “NEW” – VTN6044

This 4-day trip will take you to discover some of the wonders you can find around Hanoi: the rocks soaring skywards; one of the most important protected areas in Vietnam: the Cuc Phuong National Park and some ethnic minorities in Hoa Binh.

ITINERARY

Day 1 – Hoa Lu - Tam Coc - Ninh Binh  (L/D)

Drive south of Hanoi towards Tam Coc (three caves).  The landscape here looks similar to Halong Bay only the rocks soar towards the sky from a bed of green vegetation. Enjoy the caves from a boat on the Ngo Dong River (about 2 hours). Next the trip will take you to the Bich Dong Pagoda. Lunch at local restaurant. Visit Hoa Lu in the afternoon. Hoa Lu was  the capital of Vietnam during the Dinh and early Le dynasties (X & beginning of the XI Century) where you will have the opportunity to discover some of the remaining sites from the old days.

Go back to Ninh Binh when the visits are finished. Transfer to the hotel.

Dinner and accommodation at hotel.


Ninh Binh - Cuc Phuong (B/L/D)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer to Cuc Phuong National Park. On the way you will stop by a prehistoric cave and the Vu Huong tree (Cinamomum balansae). Then take a trek (6km) to the 1,000-year-old tree (Terminalia myriocarapa) on a scenic trail. Have picnic lunch at the park centre. In the afternoon, continue to trek (8km) to the Dang tree (Tetrameles nudiflora) on a steep trail through a dense jungle. Dinner and overnight in Cuc Phuong (basic accommodation).

Day 3Cuc Phuong – Hoa Binh (B/L/D)

Breakfast at local restaurant. 

In the morning visit the botanical garden, home to a great collection of rare plants, the endangered primate rescue centre, followed by a seminar on primate rescue before finishing the visit to the Park in the museum. Lunch in the Park. Afternoon transfer to Hoa Binh, home to many hill-tribe people.

Dinner and accommodation at hotel.

Day 4Hoa Binh – Hanoi  (B/L/-)

Breakfast at hotel.

Morning two and a half hour boat ride on Da reservoir to visit some ethnic minorities like the Yang Mo in the villages nearby. The landscape here is full of rice paddies, farms and houses on stilts. 

Lunch in a local restaurant. Drive back to Hanoi. Transfer to hotel.
